Persée

Persée, a public initiative supported by the CNRS, ENS de Lyon, and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, specializes in the retrospective digitization and preservation of scholarly literature. The portal archives over one million documents—including academic journals, multi-volume book collections, serial publications, and conference proceedings—enabling full-text discovery, persistent identifiers (DOIs), metadata indexing, and free PDF downloads. It maintains long-term archiving standards through its inclusion in the Keepers Registry and features advanced semantic exploration tools to track historical, sociological, and cultural research over time. Serving a global audience of academic researchers, librarians, students, and historians, Persée delivers practical value by converting physical archival library materials into an interoperable, open-source digital heritage network.
